In 1973, Rick and Bill finally got the chance to spread their wings and take a chance with something new.
The Phoenix band broke up because Buzzy Martin was moving to California.
We immediately approached guitarist Jeff Nelson and bassist Rich Heinzelman with the idea of forming a new band.
Everyone liked the idea, and so the band Patchwork was born.We began rehearsing at Bill's new house near downtown Grand Rapids.
