Tricks 2003 was Rick, Steve, Rich, Krys (with Dave Lopez on sound)
The Dual-Quad setlists - "and so it begins . . ."
In 2003, we finally realized our goal of no-repeat "Dual Quad" set lists, i.e., we had almost completely different set lists for Friday and Saturday. The only repeats on our list were songs that were new to us. The name "Dual Quad" was from Steve - meaning that we have 4 sets on night "A" and 4 different sets on night "B".
The asterisks* are new songs that we did every night, until we felt good about them.
Then we switched the new songs to single night,
then we added the "Hat" songs back in until we had "no repeat" Dual Quad setlists. Dude!

To make things even more complex, we always flip-flop and play the A list on one Friday, and the B list on the next Friday. That makes it so people who always come on Fridays or always come on Saturdays will be hearing different set lists on consecutive Fridays. Wow, we thought about this WAY too much! We also had 16 extra songs, so we put those songs in a "Tricks Magic Hat" and let people pick a random song, and we MUST obey the hat. No begging off songs that we haven't played for many months.

For this party, we had the novel idea of doing an "All Hat List" night.
We put all 80-some songs from our Tricks repertoire onto slips of paper,
put them in the Tricks Hat, and pulled out songs randomly all night long.
What a Hoot!
After Rich & Steve went home at midnight, Rick & Krys sang and played until 2:30am -
Rick played for nearly 6 hours with only 1 break. Like a human juke-box.

April 18 & 19 - Wayland Hotel -
Greg and Mary Kay have done a major make-over of the Wayland Hotel.
Greg did most of the work himself:
He built a huge stage that stretches the length of one wall, with a chrome grill covering the wall,
and bars all around the stage for hanging lights.
He installed a wooden dance floor in front of the long stage - beautiful!
Very important for the bands; he installed 6 electrical outlets at the stage, each with seperate circuits.
Behind the stage area, Greg built 2 nice new bathrooms, an office, and a storage backroom.
Thanks so much to Greg and Mary Kay for the comfy new digs at the Wayland Hotel Bar & Grill.
